In an interview with Gamespot, director Michael Chaves revealed that a deleted scene towards the end of the film makes a direct connection to The Conjuring Universe. That being said, fans of the Conjuring Universe were disappointed to see this film’s minimal connection to the franchise it’s based on. While critics despised the film, it ended up having a healthy box office opening, passing expectations to earn 26.5 million in the top spot. The Curse of La Lloronaopened this weekend to decidedly mixed results.
