The fact that it's non-blowback makes it last a lot longer on a single CO2 cartridge, though not quite as much fun perhaps.įinally, the price tag is on the high side for what it offers. The double-action is quite stiff, better use the single action which is silky smooth for any precision shooting. It also says A1 on it but it's not faithful to the 1911 A1, since the back of the grip is flat. It's slightly wider than the real thing and the slide looks fake (especially viewed from the top), since it's a non-blowback model. No clamshell packaging crap here.Īs for being true to a real 1911, well, it falls short a bit. It's also quite precise, and I didn't need to adjust the back aim straight out of the box.

I like the fact that it's powerful, it's all-metal construction (with rubberized grip), has grip safety operational, feels solid and heavy. Despite not have a working blowback design or drop out magazine, this is a top notch airgun that succeeds in shooting and enjoying for years to come. This well-made airgun has been around since the late 90's and even today it still holds its own. You can really tell this is a quality gun from how smoothly it operates and the confidence it gives you even when just holding it in your hands.

  • The engravings on my airgun were a bit hard to seeĬomments: The Umarex Colt Government 1911 A1 is a pleasure to own and shoot.
  • Sights are a bit hard to see on darker backgrounds.
  • Very good accuracy, decent FPS for a pellet shooter and good usage of CO2.
  • Accurate trigger design and working back-strap safety.
  • Double and single action, very smooth and light.
  • Almost all metal construction - good weight and very solid feeling gun at 2.5 pounds!.
  • It looks pretty much bang on with the exception of the slight break in the slide where the rotary magazine is accessible. Realism: The Umarex Colt Government 1911 A1 is a licensed replica of the real Government Colt 1911 A1 45 auto pistol. All the mechanical parts operation are as smooth as butter. It's made in Germany, what more do I need to say? The only plastic parts are the grips which almost feel like a mix between rubber and plastic. My Chrony testing with an eight shot had an average result of 383 FPS.īuild Quality: This is an almost all metal air gun with a great fit and finish and a nice hefty 2.5 pound weight to it. The sights can be adjusted for windage if you are shooting a tad bit to the left or right. I got about a one inch grouping just a little bit high of the target's center.

The single action has the lightest pull, making it a joy to shoot at targets.Īccuracy: I shot this air gun at a target from 20 feet away in a free standing position, and it performed excellent. Trigger Pull: The trigger pull on the Umarex Colt Government 1911 A1 is extremely nice in both single and double action mode. Overall, a fine example of one of the earliest US Army issued 1911 Colts.Materials: Mostly metal with plastic gripsĪction: Semi auto, single and double action The magazine is also the early two-tone but lacks the loop at the bottom, so like the barrel, could be a later replacement. The finish is original and the bore is cloudy with minor corrosion but decent rifling.

This would be a type 3 barrel which my source says started around serial 25xxx, so the barrel could be a replacement, although early. The barrel is H P marked on top, but the P is a poor strike. The grips appear to be correct and original. The top of the frame (inside) is marked H and U. The inspector proof on the frame is also correct - WGP. The slide is early logo, and correctly missing the 1913 patent marking. The early parts are very hard to find so I will go over the main parts to insure that this gun is all original. Production began in 1912 and with the serial in the 22xxx range, this obviously makes it one of the first 25k made. 11/14/17 - This is a very hard to find Colt 1911 from early 1913.
